More furniture that seems to be popular and easy for a 1st thing to build

This is designed for 48 wide, 48 high, for .5 thick ply wood. This will make all 3 shelves from a 1/2 sheet and will need one tool(.25 em) and 1 cut to finish(no tool changes). If you fit the stuff for a single shelf at a time, it will need aprox 24×30 to cut.

for hold downs on furniture like this, i use a vbit and draw .125 circles on the wood at least 2 bit dia away from all edges. I will do these in a number of places(6 on a single shelf)

.125 holes in red shown as hold down screws(6)

I square my stock and lay it on my table, zero my cnc at lower left corner, and use paper method to zero a .5 60 deg vbit. I then run a vcarve on these 6 holes. I then screw a drywall screw in each, and i’m sure they will not be in the way of my bit. I hate to accidentally shoot a finish nail and hit it with an expensive carbide tool and chip it.

FYI, make sure the screw pulls the material tight down to the spoilboard, and does not leave it floating up.

Remember this tip work in the center of cut outs that are scrap as well. i’ve never had this method slip or break loose. I will also put carpet tape on the back side of the pieces to cut out to hold them tight. i get my carpet tape at walmart. as long as the pieces are big, i’ve not had any issue. for the very small parts, the force to surface area is too large to hold and you will have to do something different. This is true with the CA glue and tape method as well.

Then with the spoil board down tight, time to run the file.

The dado’s are sized to .5 inch, keep this in mind if your wood is not as thick and you need to change these. easy to do in vcarve or aspire, not sure about other software.
